Herzog reduces sentence of former Julis council head convicted of killing gardening contractor

President Isaac Herzog has decided to lessen the sentence of former Julis council head Salman Aamer, who was convicted in 2020 of manslaughter after fatally shooting gardening contractor Munir Nabuani and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The Supreme Court accepted Aamer's appeal, overturned the murder conviction and replaced it with manslaughter, reducing his sentence to 14 years. Herzog decided to reduce his sentence by 13 months due to "his unique contribution to state security".
