Sources in United Torah Judaism attacked Shas chairman Aryeh Deri regarding discussions on the draft law, saying: "He is stalling to secure more appointments for his associates in religious institutions in cities." Sources in Shas responded to the criticism, stating that "these claims are baseless and false, coming from elements who have no part or involvement in efforts to regulate the status of yeshiva students." They added: "Any arrangement - if reached - will be brought exclusively for the decision of Torah sages."
