Trump: We will impose 35% tariffs on Canada

|
U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, informing him that he will impose a 35% tariff on imports from the country starting August 1. In the letter, which the president published on his social media platform Truth Social, he wrote that "the U.S. has imposed tariffs on Canada due to the national fentanyl crisis, caused in part by Canada's failure to stop the flow of drugs into our country. We will collect 35% on every Canadian product shipped to the U.S., separate from sectoral tariffs." He added: "If Canada works with me to stop the flow of fentanyl, perhaps we will consider adjusting this letter."
