Marie-Therese, the 86-year-old French woman who was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been released and returned to France after 16 days in detention in Louisiana. This was announced by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot. Marie-Therese moved to the U.S. last year, following the rekindling of a romantic relationship she had with an American citizen in the 1960s, whom she married. She was arrested as an undocumented immigrant in Alabama following her husband's death, while she was waiting to receive a green card.
