U.S. President Donald Trump is considering sending thousands of American troops to the Middle East, some of whom may secure oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz using air and naval forces. Reuters cited American officials and other sources involved in the matter, who added that securing the strait may also include deploying forces along Iran's coast. According to them, the Trump administration is also discussing options to send ground forces to the oil island of Kharg. In addition, they said the administration has discussed the possibility of deploying American forces to secure Iran's enriched uranium stockpile. A White House official said that 'no decision has been made to send ground forces at this stage, but President Trump is wisely keeping all options at his disposal.'
