Attorney General allows Netanyahu to appoint acting replacement for Ronen Bar: 'Exceptional circumstances arose'

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara published a letter regarding the appointment of Shin Bet deputy chief S. as Ronen Bar's replacement, writing that "in the exceptional circumstances that have arisen, and although the Prime Minister is in a conflict of interest, the Attorney General believes that considering all aspects of the matter, especially in light of the vital consideration of preventing harm to national security, the proposed candidate can be assigned to the position, as requested, for a period of one month, during which the Prime Minister's authority under the Shin Bet Law will be transferred to another minister, who will act without delay to make a permanent appointment to the position of Shin Bet chief."
