NYPD Advances Deal with Israeli Company, Mamdani's Office: 'Reviewing the Contract'

|
The New York Police Department is advancing a deal worth approximately $750,000 with Israeli intelligence company Cognyte, despite Mayor Zohran Mamdani's anti-Israel positions. The police are seeking to purchase an advanced surveillance system called FalcoNet capable of mimicking a cellular antenna, locating mobile phones and tracking their locations. The system can be installed on vehicles and drones and even concealed in a backpack. The proposed contract, for a three-year period, is being advanced without a competitive tender. Mamdani's office stated they are 'reviewing the proposed contract.'
