Iran denies Revolutionary Guards operation in Kuwait: 'Routine naval patrol that went wrong'

|
Iran's Foreign Ministry denied Kuwaiti accusations that six armed Revolutionary Guards members infiltrated Bubiyan Island within its territory with the intention of "carrying out hostile operations." Kuwait reported earlier that four armed individuals were arrested and two escaped. Iran responded by claiming that "the allegations in statements issued by the Kuwaiti Foreign and Interior ministries regarding Iranian planning of hostile operations are baseless and unacceptable. The four Iranians were performing their duties as part of a routine naval patrol and entered Kuwaiti territorial waters due to a navigation system malfunction." The Iranians are demanding the release of the detainees.
