Track and Field: American Tharp Breaks World Record in 110-Meter Hurdles

American athlete Jacoby Tharp set a time of 12.75 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles semifinal at the College Championships, shattering the world record. Tharp improved by five hundredths of a second on the record held by his compatriot Aries Merritt from 2012 (12.80), and could improve it again in the final of the competition in Eugene, Oregon.
