Violent clashes have been ongoing for hours in Bnei Brak due to a dispute within the ultra-Orthodox community. Ultra-Orthodox residents of the city have been protesting against members of 'Vizhnitz Center,' a community that split from the Vizhnitz Hasidic sect. The small community demands absolute devotion to the Rebbe and extreme faith in him, which has drawn opposition from many ultra-Orthodox Jews. The protest organized against the small sect escalated into violent confrontations, property burning, road blockages and throwing of objects. Police forces that arrived in the city to control the turbulent demonstration were also attacked with thrown objects, eggs and even a fire extinguisher sprayed at officers. City Mayor Rabbi Hanoch Zeibert said about the protests: 'An educational disaster for the souls of our children.'
