After months of delay: Health Basket Committee composition determined

At the upcoming government meeting on Sunday, a proposal regarding the appointment of the Health Basket Committee for 2026 will be put to vote. In the absence of a permanent health minister, the appointment will be made as a one-time decision by the government and will be identical to the committee's composition from the previous year. Prof. Dina Ben-Yehuda will chair the committee. In recent years, the budget for new medications in the basket stood at 650 million shekels, following a coalition agreement with Shas. With the resignation of Shas ministers from the government, there was serious concern whether this year's budget would remain at the same amount or be reduced by 100 million shekels, but sources in the Health Ministry tell ynet that despite the political complexity, the expectation is that the amount will remain at 650 million this year as well.
