Batya Kord, whose daughter Lian was bitten by the family pitbull in their home in Kiryat Bialik and died at the age of one year and three weeks, said that "it was not something predictable. The dog killed Lian in my arms." Kord returned that day from shopping and shared that "when I entered the house, I brought the child with me and we fed Boss (the dog) a bun. He didn't make any preliminary action that could indicate he was unhappy with something or about to harm my daughter." According to her, "suddenly the dog attacked Lian, jumped on her head and bit her. I picked up Lian and ran downstairs with her. I screamed to the neighbors 'The dog bit my child.'"
