Australia to double fine for companies allowing social media accounts under 16

|
Australia will double the maximum fine it can impose on companies that fail to implement the ban on social media use for children. The government will also strengthen the information-gathering capabilities of the internet authority, enabling it to force social media companies to provide proof of their actions to prevent teenagers under 16 from holding social media accounts. Under these changes, the maximum fine will stand at $68 million.
