Knesset legal adviser Sagit Afik warned before the vote on Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi's Communications Law that if the coalition approves reservations in the final votes that were not discussed in committee, it would constitute a flaw in the legislative process. The law will allow the establishment of new news channels with almost no regulation and will abolish the structural separation between channel owners and news companies. One section of the law addressed the creation of a government app where all news channels could be received for free, and content providers such as HOT, YES and Partner would be required to position the news channels alongside other channels.
