About 100 reserve soldiers signed a call to President Isaac Herzog to reverse his decision to expunge the criminal record of Elor Azaria, who shot a neutralized terrorist nearly a decade ago during his IDF service. In the letter, the reservists argued about the moral and operational damage stemming from shooting in violation of orders and procedures, and from the public decision to expunge the criminal record following the act. "Your move is an authorization for future times when such incidents occur, and you have abandoned the soldiers and civilians who will be harmed by them," they wrote. "You sent a grave message to anyone who holds a weapon in the name of the state, and you have abandoned us to our fate," they added.
