Ben-Gvir to attend Netanyahu-called meeting on election integrity; Eisenkot to AG: raises concern

|
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir will also participate in the meeting on election integrity called by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai refused to attend a previous meeting on the subject called by Ben-Gvir. The meeting with Netanyahu will not include the opposition leader or any representative from the Central Elections Committee. Yisrael Beytenu party chairman Gadi Eisenkot appealed to Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg to cancel the meeting. "Netanyahu is himself running in the elections, is not responsible for election integrity and the police commissioner is not subordinate to him on this matter. The unusual meeting raises concern of an attempt to create a false impression of harm to election integrity, without any basis, in order to undermine public confidence in the results in advance," the statement said.
