According to a New York Times report, U.S. President's special envoy Steve Wittke played a key role in Donald Trump's decision to accept a luxury Boeing 747-8 'Jumbo' aircraft from Qatar. After the administration explored options for acquiring a temporary aircraft to replace the delayed new Air Force One, eight suitable aircraft were found worldwide, including a luxurious double-decker that Qatar had unsuccessfully tried to sell for years. Wittke, who knew the Qataris well, was the one who approached them to inquire about the aircraft.
