Outrage in Rome: 'Settler forced Italian police to kneel near Ramallah at gunpoint'

|
The Italian consulate in Jerusalem has filed an official complaint to the Israeli government regarding an unusual incident that allegedly occurred near the Palestinian village of Nama, close to Ramallah, where a "settler" reportedly forced Italian police officers on patrol to kneel under gunpoint. The officers involved in the incident serve at the Italian consulate in Jerusalem and were performing a "patrol mission" in the area. Government sources in Italy said that "two Carabinieri officers who were illegally detained yesterday by an Israeli settler in the West Bank were forced to kneel at gunpoint and were 'interrogated' by him." The sources added that Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani summoned the Israeli ambassador in Rome for a discussion regarding the incident.
