U.S. to rename naval ship named after murdered LGBTQ activist: 'Don't want politics'

|
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved changing the name of the U.S. Navy ship "Harvey Milk" - which was previously named as a tribute to the American LGBTQ rights activist who was murdered in 1978. Hegseth announced that the new name will be "Oscar Peterson," after an American marine who fell during World War II and posthumously received the Medal of Honor - the highest military decoration in the U.S. armed forces. "We don't want politics in ship names anymore," the Defense Secretary said.
