Rahat mayor: 'Increased police presence reduced violence – but forces were scaled back'

|
Rahat Mayor Talal al-Qrinawi addressed the shooting that occurred overnight in the city, in which a young man around 25 years old was seriously wounded, and said in an interview with Ynet Studio that he "hopes the police will restore their forces and presence with reinforced units." According to him, "We have been under increased police presence for several months and we are experiencing a decrease in shootings and violence. Recently, the force has been scaled back and last night we witnessed a drive-by shooting incident. The very fact that there is an increased police presence simply contributes to personal security, it is a deterrent. We are also working at an accelerated pace to network the city's main locations with cameras."
