Iranian news agency Fars reported that Iran used a guided missile for the first time in last night's barrage against Israel. According to the report, the missile is named "Haj Qasem" after former Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani. The missile has a range of 1,400 km, weighs 7 tons, carries a 500 kg warhead and can travel at a speed of Mach 12 and hit a target at Mach 6. According to Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, it can evade THAAD and Patriot defense systems. According to the Arabic-language Sky News network, one of the missile's features is that its launch reduces the ability of defense systems to counter it.
