In his first public statement since the elections, Aryeh Deri announced that he is "accepting without hesitation or doubt" the directive of the Shas Council that he continue serving as party chairman, after he had requested to step down. "Tomorrow I will convene a faction meeting with the movement's Knesset members and our senior representatives in local authorities, in order to gird our loins, learn lessons and move the movement forward," he said.
