|
Two Israelis are accused in the United States of a massive fraud scheme totaling $129 million using artificial intelligence, in which they impersonated CEOs and lawyers and successfully caused companies around the world to transfer millions of dollars to them. According to the indictment unsealed in New York, Sharon Hazan (54) and Guy Sterit (42) from Israel and Jacob Suel (41) who resides in Spain and Britain, used technology to mimic the voices and faces of senior executives, who instructed their employees to transfer funds as part of confidential transactions. They later also impersonated lawyers to convince the employees that the transactions were legitimate.
