Associates of Defense Minister Israel Katz stated following the confrontation with IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir that "there is no doubt that upon completion of the investigations, there will be no choice but to take measures against additional senior officials in the IDF and increase measures against other senior officials." They also said: "The Chief of Staff acted within his authority but based on partial information and in an incomplete manner. The Defense Minister insisted on conducting and publishing investigations during the previous Chief of Staff's tenure - which led to major changes in the IDF - and this will be the case now as well. All material regarding the October 7 events will be fully investigated, in accordance with the recommendations of the committee headed by Maj. Gen. (res.) Sami Turgeman, and will be revealed to the public and bereaved families, the necessary conclusions will be drawn and no cover-up will be allowed."
