The Consumer Price Index for April increased by 1.1%. Consequently, annual inflation rose to 3.6%, compared to 3.3% in March. Forecasts predicted the April index would rise by 0.5% to 0.7%. Significant price increases were recorded in: transportation, which rose by 4.9%, culture and entertainment up by 1.6%, clothing and fresh fruits each rising by 1.5%, and housing up by 0.6%. Notable price decreases were recorded in: fresh vegetables, which fell by 1.0%, and furniture and household equipment, which decreased by 0.5%.
