Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa will arrive at the G7 summit (United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Britain) to be held next month in France. This was reported by Reuters news agency citing sources, who noted that Syria was invited as a guest country. If al-Sharaa does arrive, this will be Syria's first participation in the summit since it was founded in 1975. According to the report, the invitation to the gathering was hand-delivered to the Syrian finance minister who arrived for economic discussions in Paris earlier this week. A Syrian source told Reuters that Damascus' participation will likely focus on the country's role as a potential hub for supply chains following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
