Lebanese Army declares: South of the country is disarmed

|
The Lebanese Army declared that it has achieved the objective of disarming Hezbollah in southern Lebanon - claiming that the only exception is the few areas that "are still under Israeli occupation." The army added that it continues work to clear tunnels and unexploded ordnance. Israel anticipated this declaration in advance and is expected to reject the assertion that the area south of the Litani River has indeed been disarmed. Besides Hezbollah, Palestinian terror organizations such as Hamas are also active there, and the Lebanese Army included all of them in its announcement - claiming it has achieved a monopoly on weapons. The declaration came before the government meeting at 10:00.
