The Likud party responded to Opposition Leader Yair Lapid's claim that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Lapid to reopen the budget law to transfer more funds to the security system. Likud stated that "Lapid is misleading the public about the security budget. Lapid's claims are false and lies. State revenues were higher than expected as a result of the government's economic policy, and consequently the deficit is also lower than expected. Under these circumstances, it is possible to increase the security budget without any tax increases." The statement added: "The argument about coalition funds and budgets for the ultra-Orthodox sector is also false. There have never been such amounts for coalition funds and for the ultra-Orthodox sector, not even close. Lapid is abandoning the security of the State of Israel because of cheap political considerations."
