Khan Younis disaster: Signs indicate terrorists attached explosive to 'Puma' APC and fled

|
A preliminary investigation of the disaster in Khan Younis, where an officer and six soldiers were killed yesterday when an outdated 'Puma' engineering APC exploded, shows the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m.. It appears that terrorists attached an explosive device to the combat engineering soldiers' APC and fled the scene. The investigation revealed that the explosive detonated and severely damaged the armored vehicle, which was part of an attack by the combined combat team from Battalion 605 of Brigade 188, under Division 36. The remaining soldiers spent long minutes extinguishing the burning APC, with the help of firefighting forces dispatched to the scene and a nearby D-9 bulldozer, which following protocol dumped sand on the burnt APC. The 'Puma' was later towed into Israel and the IDF is still searching for the militants responsible for the disaster.
