3 soldiers imprisoned for refusing to fight in Gaza; IDF: 'They are fit for duty, therefore they were sentenced'

|
Three soldiers in mandatory service were imprisoned after refusing to fight in the Gaza Strip and requesting transfers from combat roles. The IDF spokesperson stated: "The soldiers met with a mental health officer who determined they are fit to participate in combat. Following a disciplinary procedure, the soldiers maintained their refusal and were therefore sentenced to prison. The handling was done sensitively and according to regulations. The IDF views refusal to follow orders seriously, especially during wartime, and will continue to maintain discipline and command values." Two of the soldiers received seven days in prison, and another soldier received 12 days.
