The National Fraud Investigation Unit (LAHAV 433) has completed a criminal investigation in cooperation with the Tax Authority regarding Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg, city manager Yaniv Benita and businesspeople in the city. Police reported that the investigation focused on suspected public corruption offenses, including giving and receiving bribes. The investigation revealed suspicions that contractors and businesspeople in the city financed Greenberg's mayoral election campaign in exchange for a commitment to appoint Benita as city manager, in order to advance the businesspeople's personal interests through winning tenders and receiving preferential treatment in project management and positions in the city.
