Brigadier General Benny Aharon assumed command of the "Mapatz" (146) Division yesterday, replacing Brigadier General Yiftach Norkin, who served in this position for the past year and will later take command of the "Gaash" (36) Division. This was announced by the IDF spokesperson, who added that the change of command ceremony was held at Havat HaShomer under the leadership of Northern Command Chief, Major General Rafi Milo. Brig. Gen. Norkin said: "Facing the horrific scenes in the kibbutzim, I knew I had to take a significant part in the fighting and I was fortunate to receive command of the division and prepare it for the maneuver in Lebanon - which effectively defeated Hezbollah. The campaign is still ongoing and in Gaza we are committed to victory." Brig. Gen. Aharon stated: "I assume this position carrying with me the spirit of the 57 fighters from the 401st Brigade who fell under my command during the war, and I commit to following their light."
