The October Council responded to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement to the High Court of Justice, in which he wrote, among other things, that "the responsibility for the security of the state and its citizens rests with the prime minister, and only with him." According to the October Council, "Israel's prime minister effectively declared today that the responsibility for the October 7 massacre is his — and his alone. Today, for the first time, the prime minister takes responsibility for 2,100 murdered, 251 abducted and tens of thousands displaced from their homes."
