Syrian media outlets reported intense clashes and exchange of fire between an IDF force and residents in the town of Beit Jann in the rural area of Damascus, about 11 km east of the border with Israel. According to a report on SyriaTV, around 3:40 AM an IDF patrol entered the town and was surrounded, at which point clashes and exchange of fire erupted. Simultaneously, artillery strikes were reported on areas surrounding the town. The channel later reported Israeli helicopters attacking in Beit Jann and clashes between local residents and the IDF patrol. According to the channel, two local residents were killed in the operation and IDF forces withdrew from the area.
