Turmoil in Knesset: Vaturi and Cassif nearly come to physical confrontation during debate on Odeh's dismissal

|
Deputy Knesset Speaker MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud) almost physically confronted MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash) this morning during a Knesset Committee discussion regarding the dismissal of MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash-Ta'al). Cassif was removed after protesting statements made by bereaved families during the discussion, and as Cassif was making his way out, Vaturi rose toward him in what appeared to be a threatening manner. Knesset security prevented the physical confrontation. At the conclusion of the discussion, a vote on Odeh's dismissal will take place, and for the committee to recommend dismissal, it must be approved by 75% of its members. If approved, the proposal will be forwarded to the Knesset plenum, where a majority of 90 MKs is required.
