Foreign Ministry Director General Aeden Bar-Tal informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he would be unable to serve as Civil Service Commissioner as required. This follows Netanyahu's appointment of Bar-Tal as acting commissioner for a one-month term. According to Bar-Tal, 'After reviewing the position of the government's legal counsel and in light of the significant limitations presented regarding the scope of authority that would be granted to me if I were to take on this role, I have concluded that it would not be possible to properly fulfill this position under these circumstances.' He also noted that 'Under these circumstances, I request not to be appointed as acting Civil Service Commissioner.'
