Peace Now movement responded to the approval of building 126 permanent homes in Sha'anur in Samaria, stating that "instead of rehabilitating the north and south, the government is establishing isolated settlements that will constitute a security and economic burden." According to the movement, "The establishment of Sha'anur, in the heart of a Palestinian population in an area without Israeli presence, is intended to cut off any Palestinian continuity and destroy even the little possible economic development of the Palestinians. It is inconceivable that after almost three years of war, the Israeli taxpayer has to finance a dangerous messianic delusion of a government that has long lost the trust of the people."
