British police announced that two men in their 30s were convicted of involvement in planning a terrorist attack against the Jewish community in Manchester in northern England. According to the indictment, the two planned to carry out the attack on last Yom Kippur, September 20, or around the fast day. It was also reported that the two were allegedly in contact with a third party overseas, possibly in Iran. A year earlier, two people were killed and four injured in a ramming and stabbing attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Crumpsall, a suburb of Manchester.
