The Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees of the U.S. House of Representatives have opened an investigation into the New Israel Fund, suspecting the organization acted in violation of the law and engaged in political activity and attempts to influence elections in Israel. The committee chairs, Jim Jordan and Jason Smith, allege that the fund provided millions of dollars to organizations that worked against Benjamin Netanyahu's election as prime minister in the 2019 election cycle, thereby allegedly violating the conditions for receiving tax exemptions granted to charitable organizations in the United States.
