Lapid: Government pays young ultra-Orthodox men to ensure they dodge military service

|
Opposition leader Yair Lapid addressed Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Yuli Edelstein's summoning of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to provide explanations regarding emergency orders while ultra-Orthodox men remain exempt from service. According to Lapid, 'They don't enlist because the government pays them not to enlist.' He added: 'The government gives young ultra-Orthodox men substantial amounts of money to ensure they avoid service. Netanyahu and Israel Katz know that it's possible to draft the ultra-Orthodox: they simply need to stop paying them.'
