Security official: New operation named 'Gideon's Chariots'

Itamar Eichner, Yoav Zitun|
A senior security official said that the new operation approved by the cabinet Sunday night is named 'Gideon's Chariots.' According to the official, unlike in the past, the IDF will remain in all conquered areas to prevent the return of terrorism, and will handle each cleared area according to the Rafah model, where all threats were eliminated and it became part of the security zone. The source added that the forces' deployment before the maneuver begins will allow a window of opportunity until the end of U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to the region to execute a hostage deal according to the 'Witkoff model.' Under this, Israel will aim to maintain control over areas that were cleared and annexed to the security strip beyond the March lines.
