Ben Gvir against Attorney General: The minister must ensure appointments are strictly professional

Liran Tamari|
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responded to the Attorney General's decision to delay the promotion of Chief Inspector Rinat Saban, one of the investigators who testified in Benjamin Netanyahu's trial, saying: "This strengthens concerns about improper political interference on your part in the authority to appoint police officers, which is legally granted to the National Security Minister, while attempting to deter elected officials from exercising their legal authority. The National Security Minister is not a rubber stamp, and his signature on police officer appointments is not just a 'formal procedure' - the minister must ensure that the appointments being made are strictly professional."
