Ashdod refinery disaster: Tanks connected to safety suits suspected to have contained no oxygen

|
The Safety Administration at the Ministry of Labor has begun updating suppliers of 'Salem Yaakov and Sons,' which supplies oxygen tanks - including those used at the Ashdod refinery - to immediately stop using them, after several additional tanks supplied by the company were found and were supposed to contain oxygen - but the gas found in them was not oxygen. Officials at the Safety Administration told Ynet that 'the possibility that there was a toxic substance is being investigated,' and that Nitzan Goykhman and Irina Radchuk 'died immediately' at the Ashdod refinery, and that this is a 'very rare' incident. According to them, 'they were connected to the same battery of tanks.' Gas suppliers stated: 'The disaster is not the fault of the distributors and is not due to their negligence. Salem did not supply oxygen to the refinery at all, but rather medical air.'
