Betting platform Polymarket has opened an investigation into suspected insider trading in the Israeli election, after hundreds of new accounts bet on Benjamin Netanyahu and Likud's success shortly before polls closed on Tuesday. According to a company statement, the bets yielded profits within a short time, after exit polls indicated better results for Likud than early estimates. Some of the accounts have already withdrawn a combined total of more than $100,000, while others have accumulated unrealized profits. However, no evidence of insider information use has been found yet, and it cannot be ruled out that these were investors relying on independent assessments or simply successful bets.
