Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David opposed the police demand to completely distance him from the Histadrut for an additional 90 days following allegations against him in the "Hand-in-Hand" corruption scandal. Instead, he proposed an alternative arrangement that would allow him to return to his position as chairman and maintain contact with individuals involved in the case, but under various restrictions that he is willing to accept for 180 days. He argues that "removing an elected official from office is a drastic measure that infringes on the right to vote and be elected. The de facto removal constitutes a 'temporary dismissal,' a step that has no place at this preliminary stage of the proceedings."
