US: Winners claim second-largest prize in American lottery history, about $1.8 billion

|
Two people won a prize of about $1.8 billion yesterday in the Powerball drawing - one of the American lottery competitions. The two, residents of Missouri and Texas, will together receive the second-largest prize in U.S. history, and they are the first to win the lottery since the last time more than three months ago. The numbers they chose were 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62, and the Powerball number was 17. Since May 31, there have been 41 consecutive Powerball drawings in which no one won the jackpot, causing the prize amount to climb, with the odds of winning extremely low: 1 in 292.2 million.
