Crossing fees on the Egyptian side of the Taba border continue to climb amid ongoing disruptions at Ben Gurion Airport. According to a new notice posted at the crossing, starting at the end of March, crossing fees will only be collected in dollars at even higher rates, including a significant surcharge after the first kilometer and separate payments for vehicles and parking. This marks the second wave of price increases in a short period, after prices recently jumped by tens of percent. The updated rates detailed in the notice include a $20 charge for the first kilometer covering insurance and maintenance, but beyond that an additional $100 is added, bringing the actual cost for a traveler continuing to the airports in Taba or Sharm el-Sheikh to about $120.
