Minister Miri Regev, who oversees Independence Day ceremonies, announced to Chef Assaf Granit that she has selected him from among the public advisory committee's recommendations to light a torch on Mount Herzl. Minister Regev stated: "Assaf Granit represents the creative, bold and innovative Israeli spirit - the ability to connect with roots and draw from them contemporary and innovative creation, flavors and aromas that connect people and communities and achieve unprecedented accomplishments. Through Assaf, we seek to strengthen all the workers in the restaurant sector who are facing tremendous challenges and continue to strengthen the citizens of Israel in their way."
