Indictment: Palestinian resident posed as pilot using AI, extorted tens of thousands of shekels from woman

|
The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment against a 51-year-old man, a resident of the Palestinian territories, who posed as a Mossad agent and a pilot and extorted money and jewelry worth tens of thousands of shekels from a woman with whom he maintained contact. The indictment charges him with extortion by threats, impersonation and illegal entry into Israel. The investigation revealed that the defendant stayed in Israel without permits, and as part of a relationship he cultivated with a woman, he exploited the trust she placed in him and impersonated a northern resident using a false name. To present himself as a "pilot" and a member of the security forces, he used, among other things, artificial intelligence (AI). Additionally, during their meetings, he recorded her and threatened to distribute sexual videos in his possession.
