Trump: I ordered Defense Department to begin nuclear weapons testing

Reuters|
U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of War (formerly the Department of Defense) "to begin testing nuclear weapons, because other countries are testing their systems." In a post published on his Truth Social network, Trump claimed that "the U.S. has more nuclear weapons than any other country. Russia is in second place and China in third - but will catch up in five years." According to Trump, the tests "will begin immediately." His statements were published following Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement that his country had successfully tested a new weapon, the underwater "Poseidon" system powered by a nuclear reactor and carrying a nuclear warhead. Additionally, Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later today.
